Back in June we first announced REGROUPEX 25 as the next USS WILLIAM H. BATES (SSN 680) reunion.
What I expected was not what turned out. Things got complicated.
It had been over seven years since our last REGROUPEX reunion. The bell has tolled for some of those who were with us in Orlando in 2017. All of us are seven years closer to ‘shipping our own oars’. Yet there are still things to do, sights to see, places to go, and sea stories to be told.
Time and tide wait for no man, it is said, and we cannot afford to miss an opportunity for shipmates to gather. Deliberation over the where, when, and what regarding a reunion led us to an unexpected conclusion - that one is not enough!
As a result, 2025 will bring us not one, but two reunions.
The first, to be held in early May, will be organized simply, much in the fashion of REGROUPEX 09 and will take place in Las Vegas, NV, just off the strip and the excitement that is Las Vegas!

The second, anticipated for late August or early September, will be a little more structured, similar to REGROUPEX 17 and is expected to be on the East Coast near a SUBASE where boat tours will be available.

We understand that not everyone can plug two reunions into both their schedules and checkbooks/bitcoin accounts. We also realize that not everyone can travel cross-country, which is why we have chosen both East and West.
We also expect that many of you will jump at the chance to regroup twice after so long an absence. So get jumping!
Reunions once! Reunions twice! Holy jumpin’ something, something, something else! Aoooogah! Aoooogah!
If you can make both, terrific - some of us are already committed to being at both, yours truly being one of them. If you can only make one, that’s OK as well - we planned two to make it easy to pick the one that works for you.
Whether it’s east, west, both, or none of the above, head to the Cold War Boats Association website to RSVP - we need to know numbers, whether you can or cannot attend!
