PLANNING - LAS VEGAS 25

The USS WILLIAM H. BATES (SSN 680) West reunion for 2025, LAS VEGAS 25,  is coming together and we need your action and feedback.

First, the critical information.

WHEN: 5 - 8 MAY 2025 - only 167 days away as of today!

WHERE: Tuscany Suites & Casino, Las Vegas, NV

WHO: You, of course, and as many SSN 680 shipmates as we can convince to join us!

Early May should allow us to miss the searing southern Nevada heat. The hotel is located off the strip, so we won’t be bombarded by the bulk of the tourist traffic, but within a relatively short walking distance (15 minutes) for those who wish to take the unique sites, sounds, and smells of Las Vegas in all its glory, and ground transportation is available for those longer trips.

We are not planning activities for this reunion expecting that, given the wide range of entertainment available, group activities will emerge spontaneously. That doesn’t rule out a reunion dinner and the traditional tolling of the bell ceremony, but we will await your feedback before we get carried away.

So, what to you need to do?

1. RSVP - this is how we know whether or not you expect to be there, even if you haven’t registered for the reunion (yet to be set up), reserved your hotel room, or purchased plane tickets.

To RSVP, log into www.ssn-680.org and then click this link:

2. If you are planning to attend, RESERVE your room - this should be done immediately as rooms are generally filling up in May already, so click this link to make your room reservations ASAP:

Tuscany CasinoIt will take you to hotel reservation website - you will only need to provide the first night’s payment as a deposit, which is refundable up until three days before the event. The hotel is not charging us a ‘resort fee’ and their rates are more than reasonable - $79 a night!

You can extend your stay before or after (or book your stay, if you desire) by calling the hotel at 702-893-8933 and providing the strangely cryptic and confusing codeA: 0525SSN

3. Provide feedback, especially regarding a reunion dinner and/or the tolling of the bell ceremony in the comments on Facebook or the www.ssn-680.org website. Activities are not being planned, but we might arrange group transportation or tickets if to an event if there was interest.

A Familygram will be going out shortly, as most of our shipmates are not here on Facebook, so keep an eye out on your email - it should be more of the same, but you never know. The most current information will always be on www.ssn-680.org under THE REUNIONS >> LAS VEGAS 25.

Remember, RSVP, RESERVATIONS, FEEDBACK! And, if Las Vegas is not your thing, look forward to REGROUPEX 25 in September at an eastern location to be determined!

There is not a moment to lose!

P.S. Tip o' the hat to Miles Bradley for the idea, and many thanks to Steve Perry for the recon, resort negotiations, phone calls, and productive conversations!
