You may have noticed - if not, this will explain your confusion, that things are being rearranged on the site. Menus are changing, items in development may or may not be hidden, and new items are appearing on the menu. This is part of the dynamic growth of the website, and it reflects comments and feedback from all of you.
New items to note: the Scuttlebutt forum has been moved to the top level menu to make it easier to get to, since that is a common destination for many of you. New sort orders for the sailing list are evolving so you can look for everyone, just former crew members, 'riders' only, etc. Menus for cruise books and other things under development have been removed to free up space. We'll see where it goes from here.
Latest additions include the Welcome Aboard section, listing the latest 10 registered users - welcome them aboard when you get a chance, either in the public forum, or a private message through their profile page, which can be accessed by clicking their name. Note that this is different than the Current Watchsection. The Current Watchsection lists everybody currently logged in, Welcome Aboard lists the most recent ten users to register. This should be a reminder to log out when you leave your machine - otherwise your name can linger on the Current Watchsection, for up to 59 minutes when you aren't around to respond to the 1MC.
Speaking of which, of particular value is the brand new 1MC shoutbox in the left column which is propogating through the site as we speak. It is literally a public address system, and works in near real time, so you can chat with others on-line. Remember it's much like the 1MC, very public, everybody on-line can see what you type, so act accordingly.
If you have ideas for improving the site, post them in the Scuttlebutt forum under Website >> Feature Requests. More changes are in the works, so keep your eyes open for missing deckplates!
