P.O.D.

The site continues to grow. Your photographs, your sea stories, and anything else you send my way makes it into this museum of living history we call ssn-680.org! We have almost 1000 articles, probably twice that many photographs or more, not counting everything else, and each item of interest that gets added makes it just that much harder to find what you are looking for. To that end, I've been working on indexing the site and though I've barely scratched the surface, there is enough to warrant taking the site index active so you can see how it works and what it does.

The index is located in the right hand column and is called, surprisingly enough, the SSN-680 Site Index. Thought that one up all by myself, I did! Click on the "Select a tag" button and you get a pop-up menu that gives you hundreds of key word choices...

...Click on the gallery below if you'd like to see more about how to use it. Pick one from the list, and you'll be rewarded with a page that list every article and photograph that is referenced to that key index word.

Of course, that's the problem...it only shows up in the index if someone takes the time to tag the articles. You can see the article tags as blue background word icons at the top of each article that has, in fact, been tagged, like this one for example.

Here's a little known trick for those of you that have read this far. If you click on any of the tags, the blue word icons at the top an article, it does the same thing as if you had picked that word from the index. This can help you quickly movve through the site when you find an article of interest. Neat, right!

So I'm looking for volunteers. If you have a keen interest, and would like to go through the site, article by article, adding tags to each one so they show up in the index, let me know. I'll upgrade your access status, give you a quick briefing, walk you through it once, and you'll be able to tag articles as you read them, which will be a great help to all your shipmates!
