Does your email address reflect who you are? Does it say anything about where you've been? Tired of having to take what your service provider or boss dishes out? Do you need an email address you can use for personal use because company policy prohibits personal use of your email?
Maybe you're just tired of advertising with every email that i-work-for-a-really-big-corporation-that-trashes-the-environment.com, or maybe my-internet-service-provider-is-these-lame-guys.com or perhaps worse, i-am-stuck-with-this-cheesy-free-mail-service.com.
Now no one has ever accused me of judging a man by his email address, and I don't intend to start now, but maybe we can help each other out. If you are looking for a personalized email address that tells the world that you are part of ssn-680.org, that can be accessed from Outlook, Mail, and almost any other email program, that has spam filtering, and is accessible through webmail when you are away from your main computer, look no further.
Everybody who contributes at least $25.00/year to the maintenance of this website can have your own
I'll email you with the critical information for accessing your new email using your existing email program. If you need more help than that, I'll have to get some tutorial work together. If you are currently using AOL mail, then it may require you to use a new program outside of AOL, because I'm not sure if AOL mail can access multiple email accounts. We'll figure it out.
For those of you that already contributed, just email me with your desired email address and password.
Now if you are thinking that this is just some off-handed way to make a few bucks, well, you're right. I can't argue with that. But there are expenses associated with site, and although I'm piggybacking ssn-680.org on my other site's server, I still have to write a check every month. Every dollar you contribute helps keep ssn-680.org from having to support advertising links to pay its way, which means we have an ad free site that lets us do what we want.
I'll keep working on that tax exempt status so when we decide to start raising money for a scholarship or to help some shipmate's family, we'll have a tax-free way to do it.
