P.O.D.

mrtruckJust heard from Al Frankel the other day about our friend and shipmate Mike Rodriguez.

Mike was the MS Chief from 78 to 83, and was well regarded for his persistent support of the Rec Fund and his familiar 'Better Than Sex!' introduction to the day's menu. I can still hear it now!

Those of you at the REGROUPEX 09 back in September 2009 in San Diego had a chance to visit with Mike and Margaret, his delightful bride, and share adventures with a good friend.

Mike, who reports he is doing fine, as he always says, told Al that he had just been released from Balboa Naval Hospital and returned home after a series of strokes since last fall. He reports the strokes affected his attention span and that he is no longer driving in his trucking and delivery business.

I'm sure Mike would appreciate a call or email from any of you that served with him - he's down to typing with two fingers so I suspect a phone call would be easier and faster. I'll make his phone number available as soon as I get permission from him to make post it here. Otherwise, you can email him through his Profile page here.

UPDATE: 23 FEB 2011 - I just heard from Mike himself after another short stay in Balboa. He's still wrestling with medical issues but welcomes phone calls and emails. His cell phone is 619-417-5266, and his home phone is 619-479-9520.
