P.O.D.

The REGROUPEX 20 Planning Survey was completed on the 8th of March, and the results are in. Well, sort of. Kind of. Maybe.

You get what you get.

We had 69 complete responses, and another 11 that were never completed, but provided partial information, which I appreciate nevertheless.

I wanted to personally thank each and everyone of you who participated. Not only did the general drift of your contributions bring some clarity to the process, but your comments and suggestions were insightful and well thought out, not to mention sometimes humorous and endearing.

We’ve come a long way since those days on the boat!

I have redacted the contributor’s names out of the comments, and published the final data report of the survey, in the case you might be interested. You can download the survey report here.

So what does it all mean? Well, after wading through the data, wrestling with the options, debating for hours on the pros and cons, and taking into account local weather, planetary alignment, and the phase of the moon, we probably would be just as well off rolling the dice, which to some degree explains the spinner on the wall of the Sonar shack.

But you had a chance to speak, and I listened. For the most part, you came through like the true submariners that you are - tell us where to go, and we’ll show up and make the best of it.

So based on everything you gave me, here’s my current plan.

REGROUPEX 20 - Seattle/Bremerton WA area - June 2020

REGROUPEX 22 – Groton, CT area - Early Fall 2022

REGROUPEX 25 - South Central (TX, LA, Gulf Coast) area - January-March 2025

As we know, all our plans are subject to change, but this is the direction I’m headed. The 2022 and 2025 reunions may be a ways out there, but REGROUPEX 20 is a go, and now we need to put together the pieces to make it happen.

If you are in the Bremerton/Seattle area, it’s time to chime in with your local knowledge, both for specific locations, and specific dates based on local events and weather. Comments on this post will be appreciated and incorporated.

Time to make it happen. There’s not a moment to lose!
