SSBN 654 - GEORGE C. MARSHALL
Let us know you were here!
The fact that you are reading this means that the USS GEORGE C. MARSHALL (SSBN 654) website has not yet been commissioned, and is still on the ways.
The Cold War Boats Association has an enormous task ahead - developing the websites for each of nearly 400 submarines that served during the Cold War. You can help us enormously by letting us know that you have seen this page, so we can prioritize which boat's website should be completed next.
As a side benefit, your comment will encourage others who visit here to do the same, which encourages us to complete this boat's website sooner rather than later.
All you have to do is leave a comment, by clicking the Comments link below. A simple comment like "I was here!" is sufficient, though we certainly want to hear any feedback you have.
If you have feedback that you would like to provide privately, please contact the Lead Administrator by clicking here.

Up Scope! - SSBN 654

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. From this perspective, some thirty years or so after last setting foot on that long tube of black steel that had been our home for four years, they seem worth a lot more than that.
These images bring those antique memories to life, and in them, we hope you find pleasure as you explore the USS GEORGE C. MARSHALL (SSBN 654), revisit those exotic ports, and find the faces of old friends.
Deck Logs - SSBN 654

The Deck Log - Remarks Sheet provides formal UNCLASSIFIED documentation regarding the position and significant daily activities of the USS GEORGE C. MARSHALL (SSBN 654) including destination and departure ports, where moored when in port, and other naval vessels in the vicinity, especially when moored alongside another vessel.
Because the Remarks Sheet is an UNCLASSIFIED document, and given the nature of submarine operations, locations, actvities, and destinations are often omitted or redacted for operational security.
Despite this handicap, the Deck Log Remarks Sheet is a wealth of critical information covering roughly 30 years, and provides insight into the daily operations of the ship and crew that were the USS GEORGE C. MARSHALL (SSBN 654).
Personnel Reports - SSBN 654

Personnel Diaries, Officer Distribution Control Reports (ODCR), and Enlisted Distribution and Verification Reports (EDVR) provided formal documentation for personnel assigned to USS GEORGE C. MARSHALL (SSBN 654) and their billet assignments.
The ODCR and EDVR allowed you to determine if your command was manned appropriately, both in numbers and assigned job specialities. The Personnel Diary documented daily personnel related activity, including changes in rate and pay, submarine qualifications, the command prior to USS GEORGE C. MARSHALL (SSBN 654) and your designated command on departure.
A wealth of critical information covering roughly 30 years, these documents provide the factual basis of your time on board the USS GEORGE C. MARSHALL (SSBN 654), alleviating the need for us to rely upon our aging memories.
NOTE: Prior to 1956–1957, Officer rosters were included in Deck Logs, and are not listed here.
