SSN 604 Plan of the Day

The financial support of USS HADDO (SSN 604) shipmates, and all those who served on Cold War boats makes this site, 393 other Cold War boat websites, and almost 200 support command websites possible.
The Haddo crew leads the way in supporting the Cold War Boats Association, and I am grateful for your support and encouragement, as expressed here in my thank you letter to Ralph Stroede.
Thank You Letter to Ralph Stroede - 24 MAR 2025

Cold War Boats Association needs your help!
PHOTOGRAPHS: We need photos of your boat and crew. Photos of the boat specifically, in port or at sea, inside or out, with or without crew members.
Images should be:
-
- Original (you took the photo, or public domain)
- Digital - if prints or slides, contact the Ship's Photographer - we will scan them and return them unharmed, and pay for shipping both ways.
- High resolution - 2000 x 1100 minimum for slideshows
- Uncorrected - we will color-correct and eliminate dust and scratches using our photo editors.
SITE LEADS: No experience necessary - you are not responsible for the website template and coding, no knowledge of computer programming required.
Responsibilities include:
-
- Managing content - articles, photo galleries, soliciting and uploading sea stories, etc.
- Registering shipmates, vetting registrations, locating missing shipmates
- Posting reunion information
- Preparing your ship's newsletter
Please contact the Chief Archivist at chiefarchivist@coldwarboats.org if you have photographs to submit or the Fleet Detailer at if you would like to learn more about the responsibilities of the Site Lead for your specific boat.

Cold War Boats has recently assumed responsibility for the USS HADDO (SSN 604) website.
Ralph Stroede, the current USS HADDO webmaster, graciously allowed us to capture all of the content of the old usshaddo.com website, and import it into the SSN 604 site at coldwarboats.org, provided we allow him to retire as webmaster!
Until we get the usshaddo.com domain name transferred and redirected, the new USS HADDO site can be found here: either https://ssn-604.coldwarboats.org or https://ssn604.coldwarboats.org.
We have transferred all the newsletters from 1990 to 2023, and are in the process of organizing all the reunion photographs from 2000 to 2018. In addition, there are Personnel Diaries and reports from 1962, with personnel reports from 1963 to be uploaded, Deck Logs from 1964 to 1970, and postal covers from the boat’s post office already on-site. There are sea stories to be extracted from the newsletters, and user profiles to be updated as well.
If you were registered at usshaddo.com, you are already registered and included in the Cold War Boats Master Sailing List.
- Simply go to coldwarboats.org, attempt to log in by clicking on the link in the upper starboard corner, and select "Forgot your username or password? Click here for a reminder."
- Enter your email address, and your user name will be sent to your email.
- Follow the same steps to reset your password, and you will be assigned a new password for Cold War Boats and the USS HADDO (SSN 604) site.
- If you have changed your email since you last logged into the usshaddo.com site, contact me at with your new email, and I’ll get you set up.
- Once you get logged in, visit your user profile by clicking on your name in the Current Watchsection list in the starboard upper column, choose Edit Your Profile, and you can change your username and password on the Security tab.
I’ll be acting as the interim Site Lead for the 604. If you have photos, stories, or artifacts related to the 604, reach out to me until we get a permanent Site Lead volunteered! I'll make sure it gets on the new Haddo site.
If you're planning a Haddo reunion, again, let me know. The new Haddo website has a reunion function already built in that will let you organize, promote, and keep track of attendees and events.
All Haddo shipmates are invited to make the USS HADDO (SSN 604) site on Cold War Boats their new on-line home.
