The reunion wheels are starting to turn! REGROUPEX 17 is really happening!

Interest is starting to build among your shipmates. Seventeen of us have already indicated that we are planning to attend, and one of us (me!) has already made hotel reservations for September 1-4th, 2017 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The beautiful Shingle Creek Resort, twelve minutes from the Orlando International Airport and only a few more from Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and many other area attractions, has been chosen as the location for both REGROUPEX 17, and the USSVI annual convention, so there will be other boat reunions, conference activities and speakers, and sub-related merchandise vendors, as well as many planned activities for boat sailors, spouses and families.

The room rate for the convention is a reasonable $105.00 per night plus taxes, if you make your reservation through the USSVI.org website , or use the group code GRPUSSVI.

Ron Squiers and Chuck Phillipe have stepped and volunteered to help organize this great adventure, and we are looking for at least a handful of other shipmates to do the same, under the theory that many hands make light work. So step up and volunteer, before you have to be ‘volun-told’!

“So what do I have to do”, you might ask? That’s a terrific question.

First, go to Reunions >> REGROUPEX 17 >> Attendance Plans and update your particular plans for REGROUPEX 17. In doing so, you will be introduced one of the latest improvements in convenience on SSN-680.org. Assuming you are registered and have logged in, you can update your plans directly on the Attendance Plans page without having to go into your user profile. Simple locate your name by searching or scrolling, and the fields you can edit without opening your profile will highlight with a ‘pencil’ icon. Click on the field you want to edit, make your choice from those presented, and click Update to save your changes. Simple!

Second, keep your status updated as your reservation planning progresses. By March next year we will start asking for payment of the reunion fee (yet to be determined). It will help to know how many to expect and how the costs will be shared. So keep us updated. It’s easy!

Third, if you are willing, volunteer - email me, comment here, or contact me through the SSN-680.org website, and we’ll coordinate from there. More details about what volunteer work is needed will follow within a week or so, so you’ll have a better idea what to expect.

Fourth, and finally, start harassing your shipmates. Get those you are in contact with interested in the reunion (remember 2009? It was a blast!). Take a few hours and track down an old shipmate that isn’t registered on the website, preferably one that you’d like to reconnect with - get them to register on the site and start planning for the reunion!

That’s it for now - more to follow.

It’s up to you - get hot - start planning - nobody goes dink on REGROUPEX 17 on my watch!

I know, I'm dink, haven't done anything yet to help out with planning the regroupex, but I am willing to assist however I can. My wife and I will be attending, and hope to encourage other shipmates to be there, too!
