Just a quick update on the work behind the scenes.
- Scanning slides and negatives every spare minute - I've estimated that I have perhaps 5000 photos from my time on board. I'm scanning slides as fast as the autoloader will process them, probably averaging about 50 a day. Then they are edited, culled for the best ones, and processed for display on the web. I've seen some great stuff - I'll get them up as soon as time permits. Scanned a sheet of black and white shots of the DSRV being loaded, though I can't remember what year it was.
- I have added an auto newsletter, named the Familygram for those that remember - everybody is automatically signed up for the twice a month update. We also have a reunion news letter going for the possible mini-reunion that might happen this year, but if you want to get that one, or change your subscription, go to the Familygram module on the Homeport or POD pages.
- Speaking of subscribing - if you are in the Scuttlebutt forum and you want to follow a particular topic, open the topic so you can see each post, and click the red subscribe button. Now when anybody adds any post to this topic, and this topic only, you will get an email with the content of the post. When you get tired of getting emailed, go back to the topic - click then red unsubscribe button, and no more email. Cool! You also get the option to subscribe when you add a post to the topic. Subscribe to as many as you want!
- For those that have asked, the Current Watchsection module lists everybody logged in. Since the system doesn't kick you off until you've been inactive for 30 minutes, people can be gone for a half hour and still show on the Current Watchsection list. Moral, when you leave, LOG OUT! Just a nice courtesy for those of us who are looking for you.
- The Welcome Aboard section lists the last 10 users that have registered on the site. If you click on their name in Welcome Aboard, or on a name in Current Watchsection, you will go to that user's Profile Page - even your own works this way. Update your profiles, check people's biographies to catch up quickly, and update your own profile. Add some then and now photos.
- Have fun - I'm really pleased that everyone is enjoying this so much.
- Uniform of the Day - pajamas
Regards, Brad
