Just a quick update to let you know how things are going.
- I've added more Crossing the Line - 1983 photos to the Crew Galleries - check them out and help identify crew members from that period.
- I put up a poll on the Homeport/POD pages to see how many of you would attend a September get together in San Diego. This is for all of you that would rather not wait a year or more for a more organized formal reunion. Add your vote so we can start planning.
- More and more sea stories are coming on line. If you want to write your own, contact me. Check the FAQ for details.
- I see some of you are updating your profiles with details, photos, biographies, etc. This is a great way to update all your shipmates at once so you don't have to continually repeat yourself.

Hey, Brad! I just posted a bunch of photos the other day, and now they are gone! Whazzzup with that?
Well, crew, I've been trying to keep the photos organized in categories that help others find photos of interest. We currently have six categories, and many subcategories. If you post a photo without assigning it to a sub-category, I'll create a new sub-category and move the photo.
You can create your own sub-categories using the button next to the photo upload button. Keep the categories relevant and clean, and I'll rearrange things if necessary.
So your photos aren't gone - just relocated during house cleaning. Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Life continues here in the fast lane at ssn-680.org. Lots going on - my apologies if I don't jump into your 1MC conversations when I'm logged in. It's not just that I'm anti-social, but I'm testing, adding, updating and tweaking all the time - I can't stop, somebody help me!
No, seriously, the site takes work to make it work for you, so I'm having to fight the battle between Administrator and User all the time.
On the Admin front:
- I modified the login so that you redirected to the POD when you log in. Maybe some of you will read it!
- I added links in the Log In/Log Out tab to let you view or update your Profile. You can also get there by clicking on your name in either the Current Watchsection or Welcome Aboard modules.

Just a quick update on the work behind the scenes.
- Scanning slides and negatives every spare minute - I've estimated that I have perhaps 5000 photos from my time on board. I'm scanning slides as fast as the autoloader will process them, probably averaging about 50 a day. Then they are edited, culled for the best ones, and processed for display on the web. I've seen some great stuff - I'll get them up as soon as time permits. Scanned a sheet of black and white shots of the DSRV being loaded, though I can't remember what year it was.
- I have added an auto newsletter, named the Familygram for those that remember - everybody is automatically signed up for the twice a month update. We also have a reunion news letter going for the possible mini-reunion that might happen this year, but if you want to get that one, or change your subscription, go to the Familygram module on the Homeport or POD pages.

No, the title does not mean we are missing a couple of Shipmate Coordinators. It means that Missing Shipmate Coordinators have been found!
The task of managing all the information associated with the Looking for Shipmates forum and the On Eternal Patrol forum is a big one as we have probably1200 or 1300 shipmates we are looking for. In response to my desperate pleas for help, two shipmates have stepped forward to volunteer for this challenge.
Keith Jeffers has agreed to act as the lead Missing Shipmate Coordinator, and Mark Gray will act as his primary support. Mark brings a large amount of contact information with him that he has accumulated over the years, and these two will be updating the Looking for Shipmates forum as they incorporate the wealth of knowledge in various databases, and what others have already contributed to the forum.

Does your email address reflect who you are? Does it say anything about where you've been? Tired of having to take what your service provider or boss dishes out? Do you need an email address you can use for personal use because company policy prohibits personal use of your email?
Maybe you're just tired of advertising with every email that i-work-for-a-really-big-corporation-that-trashes-the-environment.com, or maybe my-internet-service-provider-is-these-lame-guys.com or perhaps worse, i-am-stuck-with-this-cheesy-free-mail-service.com.
Now no one has ever accused me of judging a man by his email address, and I don't intend to start now, but maybe we can help each other out. If you are looking for a personalized email address that tells the world that you are part of ssn-680.org, that can be accessed from Outlook, Mail, and almost any other email program, that has spam filtering, and is accessible through webmail when you are away from your main computer, look no further.
